Dr Michael Quinton The Rusty Cowboy
Sound Researcher, Sound Designer, and Music Production in Malta
- Dr Michael Quinton (The Rusty Cowboy) is a Sound Researcher specialised in the fields of Sound Design, Acoustic Ecology (Soundscape and Urban Design), Music Production, and Sound Engineering. Michael has designed Sonification interfaces that for astronomers that study Exoplanets and had also designed a sonification model of the Solar System that works on surround sound. He has also worked with environmental agencies as a soundscape designer and conducted studies concerning the affects of sound on societies and consulted on design measures to improve the soundscape of towns and cities. He has also designed soundscapes for various theatre plays and installations. Michael was also a lecturer at Edinburgh Napier University teaching sound design and sound theory to Bachelors and Masters Students. He currently lectures various courses in sound design for workshops.
Michael has written music for short films, Documentaries, Theatre, Video and art installations and animations. Michael is a member of the band "Spooky Monkey" from Malta.
