In the field of media Ruut is kind of multi-tasker. She is journalist, copywriter and has worked as a press officer and planner of a social media.
As a journalist Ruut is interested in global and developmental questions. Human rights, peace building, and conflicts are especially important to her. Her citizen activity focuses largely same issues.
She has worked as a freelance journalist for several Finnish medias as well as editor in chief in Globalisti magazine which is published by Finn Church Aid's youth organization Changemaker.
She is also interested in culture, design, family and lifestyle journalism. Mainly she's writer but able to take photographies and do radio and video work.
As a dj she prefers music with message of positivity with a uplifting spirit! With the alias Selekta Root she has grown a name as one of the few female reggae dj's in Finland. With her Afro-Caribbean rhythms and style of music she's sure to get the people feel good and dance! Selekta Root has performed in some of the largest clubs in Helsinki and Tampere as well as had numerous bar gigs around the country. She has also performed abroad in countries like Greece and Germany.
