The other day someone asked me if I was a writer and I said yes. I love that I said yes. Because writers are writers even if they haven't written a book yet. Writers are writers when they like to paint with words. When inside their brains exists a whole other world. A world with possibilitiy and imagination. Where observations take on a new shape and form and come back out as a story. Writers are writers when they look into people's eyes and see their story. When they are awoken early in the morning by their thoughts. Or the characters they have created. When finding the right way to say something takes two hours and you don't even notice the time but you know the feeling of finally getting there. The way your brain releases you. You created something real in just one sentence. It is a complex process... writing is. It is emotional and probing. Vulnerable. But it is at the same time beautiful and rewarding. As I become more serious about words, they become more serious about me. I love everything about it... except when I stare at a blank screen trying to figure out how to put what I see onto paper. But the challenge is all a part of the love. So I write. I hope you do too. It gives our moments meaning. And we all want more of that.
