I have many friends who are sports management majors but they aren't addicted to sports/don't call themselves fans of teams. They think that working for a sports team would be interesting because it isn't a typical "cubicle at a company" job (though it could be), but they don't care much for sports. Not me. I live, breathe, and eat sports. I played them in high school, I play intramural sports at UMass Amherst, I follow all four Boston sports teams and Chelsea FC religiously. I am a sports management major that brings passion to my major--even if it wasn't my major sports would be my biggest hobby. But, since I am a sport management major I feel like this makes me stand out--I truly love what I want to make a career out of.

I am a member of both the Commonwealth Honors College and the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. I am on pace to graduate in May 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management. I am also planning on completing my undergraduate work with a minor in economics. I actively participate in several on-campus organizations, including my fraternity, Tau Kappa Epsilon. Additionally, I am the elected Vice President of Finance on the Interfraternity Council for UMass Amherst. I believe that with hard work and dedication, any job can be completed above expectations.

In the future, I aspire to be a general manager of a sports organization. Ever since I was a little kid I would play video games and be the "owner" of the Patriots, the Red Sox, the Bruins, and the Celtics. I could trade players, talk with coaches; you name it I (pretend) did it. Now, I strive to turn those dreams into a reality and do them for real this time around.

I'm still waiting for my sports organization breakthrough, hopefully I will land an internship this Summer. To date, I have worked as a food service worker on campus and as a teacher's assistant at Medfield Children's Center in Medfield, MA. While I may not have field-relevant expeirence, I am a dedicated worker and both a fantastic leader and team player.

I am Ryan Grady.
