Based in Los Angeles, promoter Ryan Chenoweth plays a prominent role in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts, or MMA, especially in California and Nevada. The sport of MMA is a full contact sport where competitors use a wide variety of martial arts skills. Participants in sanctioned MMA matches fight in caged arenas or boxing style rings and use both striking or grappling techniques to defeat their opponents. One of the most popular MMA events in North America is the Ultimate Fighting Championship. In recent years, the use of cross-training of fighting styles and the establishment of rules to improve safety in which Ryan Chenoweth played a major role has led to Mixed Martial Arts becoming increasingly popular in North America. Ryan Chenoweth led the expansion of Mixed Martial Arts from a niche to a mainstream sport over the last two decades. During this process, Ryan Chenoweth co-wrote the current rules for all MMA competitions sanctioned in California and Nevada. Ryan Chenoweth also spearheaded initiatives to regulate amateur-level Mixed Martial Arts competitions in California while working with the California State Athletic Commission. Currently, Ryan Chenoweth owns the Ultimate Fitness Center 228th Street Gym in Torrance, California. At the Center he helps members train in Mixed Martial Arts. Through Ryan Chenoweth’s promotions, many renowned figures in MMA trained or competed at the Ultimate Fitness Center or in his events, including Chuck Liddell, Ricco Rodriguez, Jeremy Horn, Fabiano Iha, Tito Ortiz, Antonio McKee, Jake Shields, Randy Couture, Dan Hendersen and many more. Ryan Chenoweth also provides affordable Mixed Martial Arts classes to underprivileged children, giving them a place to learn the fundamental importance of teamwork, discipline, and education. Ryan Chenoweth earned a certificate of completion for the California State Athletic Training Commission Inspector Training Course. He also holds membership in the ILWU Local 13, and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Arizona State University. A promoter and co-promoter for more than 400 Mixed Martial Arts events worldwide.
