Ryan Furchner

Good day! I'm a teacher here in Barrie ON, Canada, and have been lucky enough to have had the pleasure this past year to be a Planning Time Teacher with the SCDSB. I just loved popping into classes for 30-55 minutes at a time giving lessons on the subjects I love to teach (Science, Music, Phys Ed, and some French). I've been called everything from Mr. "Fun"chner (yay!) to Mr.Furniture (boo!). I found teaching in this role to be very rewarding, having the ability to bring creative lesson plans in more frequently than in the past when I've been a classroom teacher.

I've taught in Northern Ontario (Senior Kindergarten), in Canada's great Arctic community of Fort McPherson NWT (split grades of 1/2 and 3/4), at Georgian College (Basic Computer Skills and English), an ESL teacher to Japanese high schoolers (Grade 11), here in Simcoe (grade 4/5 and planning time) and even a stint teaching grade 2 at a private school in the GTA.

I consider myself a well rounded educator who loves to bring fun, curiousity, and intrinsic motivation to students. I'm a big believer in "you get out what you put in" and try to instill that phrase/idea into most of my teaching in hopes of sparking some form of passion for life long learning with my students.
