To Ryan Platt, Chicago is a great place to be, full of lots of possibilities when it comes to fulfilling his dream of a law career. Armed with an undergraduate degree in political science from Colorado College and a Juris Doctor from the University of Wisconsin, Ryan Platt chose to join DLA Piper for a variety of reasons, not the least of which was the potential for a widely diverse experience.
The firm’s New Associates Group, for example, allows him to try working in several practice areas for a while, to determine which area he would like to work in. He also chose the firm because of its diversified approach. With law offices in 30 countries on six continents, that aspect of the practice appealed to him greatly.
Ryan Platt is a committed attorney, with a desire to help businesses meet their legal requirements, he is also a committed to pro bono work, which is an important part of his life and career in the law. While a DLA Piper summer associate, he worked on the Second Chance Clinic, which provided free legal assistance for clients with criminal backgrounds who were attempting to move forward with their lives. He hopes to continue to do that type of work.
