Ryan McBride is an educator, speaker, and writer, whose passion is to empower youth to achieve their dreams through education. Ryan is originally from Saginaw, Michigan and graduated from Saginaw High School. He earned a full tuition scholarship to attend the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in English Language and Literature. In December of 2013, he completed a Master's Degree in Higher Education from the University of Michigan School of Education.

Prior to enrolling in graduate school, he worked for two years as a College Adviser with the University of Michigan College Advising Corps program at the U-M Center for Educational Outreach. He attended the National College Advising Corps Leadership Institute in Washington, D.C. where he was trained to assist pre-college students in the college admissions and financial aid processes, career support services, and in providing interactive college preparation programming to students. He was placed as a College Adviser at Saginaw High School, his high school alma mater, where he helped students navigate all aspects of the college-going process and helped school staff to create a stronger college-going culture.

At Saginaw High School, he founded the HIGHway2College program, an innovative social media, marketing, and incentive-based passport campaign geared toward building a college-going culture. In his last year at Saginaw High, over 90% of the seniors were accepted to attend at least one college or university and the senior class of about 130 students earned over $1.2 Million in scholarships. In honor of his work, he was invited to attend the White House Christmas Reception where President Barack Obama personally commended him for his efforts.

After graduating from his Master's program, Ryan was hired by the University of Michigan's Center for Educational Outreach to work as a Community Outreach Coordinator. In this role, he coordinated various college outreach programs geared toward helping students to prepare for college.

Currently, Ryan works as an Academic Advisor at the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science and the Arts as part of the Comprehensive Studies program. In this position, he provides comprehensive academic advising services in order to help students to thrive and succeed.
