Ryan makes great things and has played many roles over the years:
- Senior-level Rails developer, coding with it since the 1.x days; built dozens of production-ready sites for clients of all sizes. Design patterns wonk.
- Senior-level iOS developer. Started when the SDK was first announced.
- Extensive scaling and ops experience on all sorts of infrastructures, from bare metal to Heroku, AWS, and more.
In '03, he co-founded Draconis Software, a software consulting company building iOS and web apps for startups, blue chips, and government research organizations.
After 9 years in consulting, he became the Platform team lead at SCVNGR/LevelUp, where he wrote code and grew the team of Rails engineers.
Currently, Ryan is the CTO and co-founder at PlateJoy.com.
In the little spare time he has, he's a volunteer construction supervisor for Habitat for Humanity where he builds homes for low-income families.
