Ryan Whitchurch

Hello,

My name is Ryan Whitchurch and I am a graduating senior at San Jose State University. I am set to graduate in May with a major in Public Relations. Specifically I am interested in sports, entertainment, social media, fraternity and sorority life, and higher education.

Since coming to SJSU un the fall of 2007 I have gone through many personal and professional changes that have molded me into a better man. Shortly after my college career began, I became a founding father of the Gamma Epsilon colony of Delta Sigma Phi. In the four years of being an active member, I have helped build an organization of 19 young freshman, into a full functioning fraternity that has initiated over 125 men.

Roles in this organization that I have held include: President, Sargent at Arms, Recruitment Chair, Alumni Relations Chair, and many other position and committees. In 2010 I applied, and was elected to the Grand Council, the Board of Directors of the Delta Sigma Phi National Fraternity. The Board consists of nine members, some alumni and two undergraduates.

Serving on this Board has provided me many lessons about how a large organization is run and managed, and I have implemented various policies that will help Delta Sigma Phi become America's leading fraternity come 2025.

In addition to my involvement with Delta Sigma Phi, I have also matured through my studies at SJSU in a variety of ways. Last year I joined the Public Affairs team of San Jose State University, and currently work to help advance the university. My works include: content management of the website, Twitter, Facebook, and other social media pages of SJSU.

I am also involved with the Dwight Bentel & Hall Communications team of San Jose State University. DB&HC is an advertising and public relations firm run by students, and has paying clients that we help to advance their personal goals.

San Jose State has provided me a variety of life experiences that help advance me both personally and professionally that I will be able to take with me to the working world upon graduation in May. I have had a great experience as an undergraduate, and I welcome you to follow me as I take you along my life struggles and triumphs of a graduating senior.

Thanks for following along!
