Bummer… Looks like I’ll be spending another unexpected night in scenic Cleveland, OH.
Hi, I’m Ryan Whyte, my work life revolves around a suitcase, and for the third time in the last four weeks my flight home has been canceled. Molly is not going to be happy.
Such are the issues encountered by a traveling Healthcare IT consultant. And you know what? I wouldn’t have it any other way - the technology I implement saves lives.
I am an Integration Architect at Cerner Corporation working at Penn State Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA (and yes, I can smuggle out some chocolate for you). I am part of the Engagement Management team working with executive leadership to improve the efficiency and usability of their Electronic Health Record. I work to anticipate and resolve any issues, technical or workflow related that may arise in the course of the physicians' day to day work. I am passionate about this business. Eventually, my goal is to become an executive in the healthcare industry and have the ability to influence change. I believe that our current healthcare system is fundamentally flawed in its reactive approach to wellness. There needs to be more focus on preventative measures to improve individual and population health and I believe we can advance healthcare through the use of technology, data analysis, and savvy management.
I am defined by much more than my career, some unique facts about me:
• I am an ex-college athlete
• I am an avid crossfitter
• I have played semi-professional baseball
• I can throw a baseball 92mph
• I am left-handed
• I was invited to the Nike Elite 11 Quarterback competition
• I hold my Crossfit Gym’s clean & jerk record
• My favorite book is Freakonomics
• I have performed a patent valuation for the purpose of negotiating the sale of a patent to a large corporation
• I believe exercise relaxes and clears the mind
As you can tell by my extensive athletic background, my competitive nature drives me to perform at my best and I embrace physical activity. I feel that my day is not complete until I have sweated out all the problems and stress of the day!
