Ryan John A. Price
Graphic Designer, Digital Illustrator, and Restorative Artist in Rural Wales
My name is Ryan, and I am the art director at VDCO (The Vandeput Design Co), Among other things, I am a graphic designer and digital/physical artist & illustrator based in rural Wales. I also digitally restore historic documents, old photographs and anything else of importance or sentimental value.
Before all this, however, I was a clinician in the NHS for almost 20 years. During that period, I continued to work as a part-time freelancer alongside my career, but in early 2015, I left the NHS, relocated and formed The Vandeput Co., a parent company to initially include VDCO, the small graphic design startup. Five years later, The Vandeput Co. has several other brands under its tiny wing. All in all, I have been involved in graphic design, digital illustration and restorative art since 2002, and made the decision to focus exclusively on graphic design as a career in 2012, and made that a reality.
I am originally from Wales and I have lived in Hertfordshire, London and Leicester for long periods of time. As of May 2020, I left London and returned to the hinterland of Wales. A country boy at heart, I find myself not only adjusting to country life well, but wondering why I left at all.
My other interests range from writing to photography. I am also interested in literature, music, contemporary and classic design, the arts, true crime and anything creative. In my leisure time, I enjoy the great outdoors, trying out new art techniques, making fine jewellery and anything that keeps my hands busy and my mind active. Recently, that has included taking up physical art again. I advocate for equality for those who are part of the LGBTQ+ community, and other marginalised groups. I am a black ally and support the #BlackLivesMatter movement.
