Ryker Nelson

Student of Marketing and Computer Information Systems at the Monfort College of Business, University of Northern Colorado. Focused on bridging the communication gap between computing, and the marketers.

I am currently a senior at the Monfort College of Business. I will receive my Bachelors in Marketing with a Minor in Computer Information Systems. My entire life I have been enthralled by computers. The way they work, what they are used for, and how they are changing the world we live in.

Both in school and in my previous work experience, I have noticed that there is a large disconnect between the marketing department, and the IT department, as much of marketing is done electronically now. I realized with my love of computers and my degree in marketing, I can be that communication link, helping to create stronger, and more effective electronic marketing.

I have both the Network Plus Certification, as well as the Network Security Plus Certification, both received from Testout and provided by the University of Northern Colorado.

I have a great deal of experience in Communication, both from communication studies classes, and the numerous group projects as required by my classes at the Monfort College of Business. I have also developed communication skills at my university position as a desk assistant working in the residence halls.

During the summer of 2014, I worked as an Electronic Banking Operations Intern at Ent Federal Credit Union. I also shadowed both the Marketing Department, and the IT Department, seeing how both function on a day to day basis as well as the difficulties they face while trying to communicate with one another and work together.
