Rayane Haddar

Hi everyone,

My name is Rayane Haddar, I live in Tours, France but I am currently on exchange through the Rotary Youth Exchange Program in the Niagara Region, Ontario, Canada.

The philosophy of behind the concept of a Rotary Exchange, is to foster peace between countries, invest in tomorrow's leader and change people's lives. Unfortunately, neither my school in France nor my school in Canada are involved in MUN. It was through an errand on Internet that I first heard about Model United Nations.

As I am a daily reader of international affairs and an early engaged global citizen, the idea appealed to me quickly. I am telling you this, just so you get an idea of what O-MUN means to me. It gave me the opportunity to explore something that interested me, for free and wherever I am in this world. I still remember the excitement of requesting to join the group on Facebook. Ms.Martin guided me through the procedures and send me the official guide. Truth to be honest, as a first time OMUNer, I was still pretty confused about the procedures etc.

After a few debates and the advices offered by talented, friendly and engaged individuals who composed the O-MUN Community, I finally was familiar with the concept, and felt really engaged quickly.

Now, I want to give back what I have received. This is why as the EAO of France for the upcoming year, I want to focus on expanding the program in France in order to give new opportunities to high school students.
