I never was "sporty" at school. I was too busy trying to be cool. I come from a family of bush horsemen. Well, and a few artists, alcoholics and criminals.
I learned to ride as a toddler, in a rough and ready barefoot style that all of my family are known for. I played in the bush alone often, exploring the lush rocky hills and gullies. I climbed trees, swam in the lake with my friends and galloped around madly on half-wild horses.
But I grew up and got a tax file number, the horses are now long dead or sold. What career should you aim for when the only thing you want to do with your life is just have fun?
The one thing I look forward to now is the one thing I never thought I'd get involved in. Footy. I play backline for Joondalup Womens Football Club.
