graduated with First Class joint BSc and MSc degree in Glaciology from the Moscow Lomonosov State University, Moscow, Russia in 2005. Then joint the Glaciology Laboratory, Institute of Geography, Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow as PhD student and research scientist. In 2007-2009 I was a visiting PhD student at the University of Reading and successfully obtained my PhD in Glaciology in November 2009.

was involved in many field work studies in different regions including the Caucasus, Tien Shan, Kamchatka, Russian Arctic, Norway and Kuril Islands.

principal investigator and co-investigator in several ongoing international projects such as:

  • Assesment of Glacier Volume in the Northern Caucasus and Its Changes since the Middle of XX Century
  • Development of Integrated Paleoclimatological Reconstruction for the Northern Caucasus Using Ice Cores and Dendrochronology
  • Evaluation of Glacier Changes and Their Impacts in Central Asia

I'm also an Academic Secretary of the Glaciological Association which unites scientists from the post-Soviet states.
Currently I'm working on the project 'Dust impacts on glaciated environments' (DIOGENES). This interdisciplinary project addresses impacts of dust on glaciers bringing together two major issues that are in the focus of climate change research: glacier shrinkage and impacts of mineral aerosol (dust) on climate system.
