Many others often tell me that red is my color. I consider the color red gorgeous for how bold it is, how it stands out, and for its bright hue. However, there is one thing I also love about it: the many different hues within the color. Maroon is red with a slightly more brown base, coming from the French word, “Marron” meaning chestnut. In contrast, burgundy, a red with the same depth and darkness as maroon, has a warmer undertone. I like to consider myself similarly. I, along with many others, have many different aspects within me, just like how the color red has many different hues.

These aspects are mainly reflected in my interests and hobbies. As a child, I grew to love crocheting. This has allowed me to branch into new areas such as knitting and sewing. Being able to create plushies and clothing has allowed me to enter the fashion world in a different way than others. While others imagine what kind of outfits they want to create and use a filter when online shopping, I can grab a crochet hook or sewing machine and create whatever my heart desires. This works well for me because, as a college student, I struggle to buy new items that fit my ideal look and aesthetic. Many would consider that since I am well-versed in making clothes, I am crafty, which I consider true. As a child, watching DIY videos on YouTube has allowed me to learn small insightful skills and tips that I constantly find myself utilizing. I have even dabbled in art and became one of the few AP Art students in my high school, which I felt was a big honor and made me feel very validated in my art skills. I have also done a jewelry-making business. These are just a few hobbies that I have picked up over the years, and I hope to work on learning embroidery as well as possibly quilting in the future.
