I knew I wanted to be a film director when I was 8. The path to getting here, however, was anything but easy. It involved many ups and downs, wrong turns, happy accidents, dragon-slaying battles, and necessary wound-healing solitudes. But, in the end, here I am, making movies. Yay!
The one I'm probably best known for is "Back to Bosnia," a feature documentary about my family's return to our hometown to reclaim our apartment and face up to the ghosts of war. The film did really well in the film festival circles, winning awards and getting its own Amazon page. I'm really proud of it, so do check it out: www.backtobosnia.com.
Since then I've been writing and directing mainly fiction. A small music video "Bela Lugosi's Dead," which I made with few very talented friends, got itself viewed over 10,000 times, which makes it much more popular than me, so if you're looking to rub shoulders with the cool crowd, you can like it here: www.vimeo.com/sabinavajraca/bela.
When not making movies I spend way too much time reading about and practicing philosophy, which I try to balance out with dancing to the 1920s music until I can't breathe (wearing the period-appropriate clothing, of course). I also happen to have an addiction to trees. But as they say - the first step is admitting it, so here's hoping.
