Sabrina Costa

For now I will keep this short and to the point. I am a 30 something wife, mother of 2 boys (E, 14 & K, 10), and career secretary. I have been affiliated with the military all my life. Born and raised in the Army life and then married into the Air Force way. Military brat through and through. It has definitely colored my world with various shades of enlightenment. We are currently on the East Coast but will soon be heading overseas...half way around the world.
I went through a drastic change in my way of life about 7 years ago and now run the path (literally) of healthy exercise and eating. It hasn't been an easy change but one that I am so glad to have undergone. I hope to pass my habits on to my boys and share them with my HB (nickname for my husband).
I have grown to love running and completed my first full marathon in May 2012!! Go ME! Not sure if I will do it again but it was an experience I will forever remember. If I can run 26.2 miles and train 6 months to do it then I can do anything! My current favorite is to run half marathon distances (love me some Rock 'n' Roll Series events). All the swag for half the distance. ;-)
Food is a passion of mine. I want to pass on a love for it to my kids...in a healthy way. It has taken me almost 30 years to cultivate a knowledge and understanding of the intricate workings between food, health, and your body. It's purely a working knowledge and there is tons more to research and learn. The biggest take I have come away with is to use food to nourish and sustain yourself...gluttony is one of the deadly sins for a reason. I truly believe in eating an as natural as possible but allowing for some indulgences.
Speaking of indulgences, coffee and dark chocolate are mine! They are the two things I rarely go without. I thoroughly believe in spending the money on the "good stuff." Chocolate=dark and normally name brand (Godiva anyone?) and coffee=Starbucks! Who doesn't love SB??!!
I have been blessed with a wonderful family (2 brothers and parents who are still married after 30 years, go Mom and Dad!) and married into a fantastic Portuguese family. Learning how to mesh our lives and incorporate our differences in upbringings has been an interesting road. My friends are varied in distance as much as background which helps me maintain a rich and positive base.
I hope you enjoy reading my ramblings (blog) and taste test a few recipes.
