Sacha Maria

What shall I write in the about me section? Well basically I’m 26 years old living in London (but barely affording it) and I enjoy booking trips to Europe.

I am originally from a small town called Taree in Australia, which accounts for the differing levels of ‘boganism’ seen in my postings. Life in Taree revolved around school, sport and friends; with an upbringing that I hold dear in my heart. My family are all pretty adventurous in their own way and that need to explore was within me from a pretty early age.

When I was 18, I ventured to the UK for the first time for a GAP year. An amazing year, seeing a heap of different countries on a very very very very minimal budget. At 18 we journeyed far and wide; eating chip sandwiches in Vatican city, drinking many a beverage in Ireland and Spain, living off free breakfasts and pasta in Prague and taking many a national express bus to Paris, Scotland, Belgium (pretty much anywhere national express could take you.)

At uni, I came back for a second time to Europe (in order to see everything I wanted to from when I was 18.) This didn’t happen, but I still had an amazing time drinking port in Porto and chilling in the south of Spain.

Then Perth happened. For 3 years, I worked full time. ‘Working hard for the money, so hard for the money!’….Yes, I finally had a decent payslip to look at and I was spending up. By spending up I mean I purchased some nice clothes, a laptop, a bed and bought a car. (A V6 I should add- god that 98 magna had some grunt.) I spent heaps of quality time with my sis and loved the lifestyle. But there was still something missing again..

So following my friend Emma, I booked a ticket to London. It was purchased without really knowing what I would do or where I would live. But I knew I would get there.

Life will never wait for you; it will throw you, push you along, spin you in circles so that you are completely lost, but it will never wait. As my 25 year old self boarded the plane in Perth at the start of this year, I concluded that at least I was making a decision; a choice about my life. Rather than going through the motions, I was deciding that I would be a traveler.

This blog is about those choices you make when you are living in one of the most expensive cities in the world. London can deal you up some pretty average hands sometimes, but it can also amaze you and excite you with so many possibilities at your fingertips. It’s London and it’s awesome.

This blog is also about the choices you make when you travel. ‘Why do you really want to climb a mountain Sacha? You hate camping… What makes you want to camel ride through the Sahara? Because it’s awesome… Did you really need that last glass of wine?’

Yep; trying to answer the big questions in this blog guys. :)
Please enjoy the stories.
