Sadaf Ahmed

Student and Small Business Owner in Seattle, WA

I am a Seattle-based designer and entrepreneur. My social impact work is focused on arts and culture.

My journey began in 2011 when I was living in Los Angeles and working in artist management. I was invited to join the board of a small South Asian woman-run nonprofit focused on bridging cultural boundaries through art education. They were just starting to develop their programming. I remain on the board to date and the organization is now thriving. Work then took me to Silicon Valley for the next few years where I took a deep dive into the world of human-centered design.

Ultimately, I found a home in Seattle where I synthesized my love for art, culture, and technology to create Nebulous Arts in 2016. It is an organization focused on the development and incubation of brands across the creative sector. Our team has over 15 years of experience in creative direction, design, curation, management, and brand development. My mission is to power creatives who are traditionally underrepresented. I am also co-founder of Karachi Kitchen, where we specialize in small-batch chutneys and spice blends. We have partnered with a local organization that helps us hire newly arrived refugees and migrants with culinary skills.

I have used the Johns Hopkins City Lab curriculum to purposefully explore how I can create lasting social impact through my work. View my journey below.
