Sadat Sobhan is the eldest among four sons of Mr. Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, Chairman of the country’s leading industrial and business conglomerate the Bashundhara Group.

He embarked into his father’s realm of industrial and commercial entities after graduating in science from the Huron University in London, the United Kingdom, in 2000.

Although Sadat spent entire of his boyhood and youth in Europe, he always had an exclusive feeling in his mind for the motherland and her people.

The in-house family values and cultural affluence have virtually pulled him into socio-economic development and philanthropic activities. He is one of the life members of Sandhani. He does finance many helpless people and charitable organizations.

Transfer of ideas and the lessons-learnt from foreign education and practical exposure back home and their optimum utilization for the welfare of the nation is the specialty of the Sobhan family.

Three younger brothers of Mr. Sadat are also playing vital roles for the socio-economic development of the country by shouldering specific responsibilities of the entities under the mother company.

Mr. Sadat Sobhan is the Co-Chairman of the Bashundhara Foundation, an entity of the Bashundhara Group, working relentlessly for the welfare of the ultra-poor and marginal people. Around 25,000 ultra-poor have so far been rehabilitated under the foundation-run interest-free loan. Beneficiary of this scheme is increasing day by day.

He loves sports and reading theology in his leisure. He is a sports organizer as well. Some of his publications acquired readers’ appreciation.

Mr. Sadat is married to Mrs. Sonia Ferdowshi Sobhan and a happy father of three sons – Ahmed Ibrahim Sobhan, Ahmed Ismail Sobhan and Ahmed Iaseer Sobhan.
