Startup Founder, Clean Cooking Advocate, and Engineer in Harare, Zimbabwe
Saddam Mapundu holds close to a decade of experience as a clean cooking advocate and is also a serial entrepreneur. He co-founded the Zimbabwe Youth Movement Combating Climate Change, which is a member of the international Clean Cooking Alliance. The ZYMCCC champions the use of clean cooking devices and fuels across Zimbabwe. He has also founded and runs various startups, namely: Nume, a last-mile delivery solutions provider; Boardally, a digital media marketing agency; and Galactic Renewables, a startup in the energy space. Galactic Renewables received recognition from the Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship program in 2018 and was also the Total Zimbabwe Startupper of the Year winner in 2019 for a Virtual Energy Grid Solar project called Choto.
Saddam is an alumnus of the 2017 Mandela Washington Fellowship program hosted at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Fuels and Energy from Chinhoyi University of Technology. He is married and a father of 1. Additionally, he is a passionate hobbyist in photography and filmmaking.
