I am currently a Research Associate at the University of Minnesota. Recently, I was also an HHMI Teaching Fellow.

As a Research Associate I investigate ways to treat skeletal muscle diseases through a better understanding of the craniofacial muscles. Currently I am investigating potential mechanisms responsible for the sparing of extraocular muscles in muscular dystrophy.

My teaching and biology education research focused on improving scientific literacy of non-scientists. I recently developed new laboratory activities for an introductory biology course for non-majors to engage students in the process of science.

When I'm not doing all of the above, I play the banjo.
