Sage Hooten
Grad School Hopeful in Savannah, GA
I am a 2020 graduate from the University of Georgia from Savannah, GA. I majored in Genetics and minored in Spanish. I enjoy singing and using my imagination. As a textbook extrovert, I would much rather be telling you all this in person than have you read this. I am an avid hugger and a lover of historic preservation. In quarantine, I've picked embroidery back up and started learning how to take care of house plants.
I was hired at the Athens Welcome Center where I gave our yearly "Athens Eerie Evening" tours that I developed in summer 2019. I also worked at the Information Desk helping visitors feel welcomed into the Classic City. Unfortunately, I was let go due to Covid-19.
I am taking at least a year off to study for the GRE, work, and continue learning outside of the classroom while applying to graduate programs. I served as the house director for the Iota Mu chapter of Alpha Phi part-time and full-time as a botanical gardens lover from July to November 2021. I also volunteered as a clinic escort for the metro-Atlanta Planned Parenthood locations, which has relit my drive for reproductive justice reform and advocacy. I moved back to Savannah in November and am trying to figure out my next move as I work at the Davenport House Museum
That being said, I would be an asset to you because I have the emotional intelligence that is only matched with my knowledge of genetics and the sciences. I am quick to learn and to think on my feet and am looking for an opportunity that can stretch me creatively and give me a chance to learn more hands-on in the 'real world'.
