Sahm Adrangi is the Chief Investment Officer and Founder of Kerrisdale Capital Management in New York, NY. Kerrisdale is an investment firm that is focused on research and Adrangi is heavily involved in the Company’s research efforts. He and his firm specialize on sharing information on stocks that are often misunderstood. In 2009, Sahm Adrangi launched Kerrisdale. Since then, the Company has grown from $1 million in investments to over $150 million that they manage.
The primary markets that Sahm Adrangi had developed an expertise include biotechnology, telecommunications and technology, mining and energy. Adrangi first became well-known in the investment arena after exposing fraudulent Chinese companies like China-Biotics, China Education Alliance, ChinaCast Education Corp., and China Marine Food Group. He did this by short selling their stock.
In the telecommunications sector, Sahm Adrangi hosted a live presentation and webcast, backed by articles and letters filed with the FCC on Globalstar’s Terrestrial Low Power Service (TLPS). He also questioned the market valuations and mining prospects of First Majestic Silver as well as other mining companies.
Frequently, his investment tips and strategies are featured in publications such as the Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek, The Washington Post, and the New York Times. Sahm Adrangi is also an activist for various investment companies. He helped Lindsay Corporation enhance their cash deployment and allocation policies as was in charge of leading a contest that would find replacements for the directors of the Morgan Hotel Group.
Prior to founding Kerrisdale Capital Management, Sahm Adrangi spent two years working as an analyst for Longacre Fund Management LLC from 2007 to 2009. Longacre was a high-profile hedge fund company. During this time, he managed distressed debt worth more than $2 billion.
He worked as an analyst at Chanin Capital from 2005 thru 2007. This was a smaller, boutique investment banking firm with locations in California, New York, and the United Kingdom. Sahm worked out of the New York location as a team member in the bankruptcy restructuring group. His role was to advise creditor committees that were either in an out-of-court restructuring situation or in bankruptcy.
His first position after college was as an analyst at Deutsche Bank. He worked in the leveraged finance group performing high-yield and leveraged loan debt financings. Sahm Adrangi is a graduate of Yale University.
