About Me

As a student majoring in Translation and Localization Management at MIIS, I am well prepared for the translation and localization industry. My education at Monterey Institute of International Studies exposed me to the most mainstream technology in the localization market, including CAT tools, terminology management, and software/localization/mobile app localization. My summer internship as a project coordinator at Local Concept, a local translation company in San Diego, gave me hands-on experiences of projects, strengthening my ability of scoping a project, dealing with vendors and handling deadline pressure.

My background in English – Chinese translation and previous work experience as a translator and interpreter gives me a chance to try different roles in translation and localization industry. After experiencing the industry from the perspective of a freelancer and a project manager, I decided to change my view to a higher level – the company, and pursue a business certificate. After taking courses in accounting, finance, marketing and managerial economics, I got a deeper understanding of how a company works as a whole and how I can cooperate with other departments, e.g., sales and accounting, better than before.

My former education and experiences bring me a mixed background of translation, technology and business, which is a perfect match for the localization industry. I’m ready to start my career either in the vendor side or in the client side.
