Sally Hazelgrove developed The Crushers Club as an alternative to gangs, giving boys and young men the tools and assistance they need to better their families, remain on track, and give back to their communities. The Crushers Club's unique violence prevention program has had a huge effect locally. Despite the local gang and jail crisis, the Crushers Club works to empower children and young people to avoid gangs, stay out of trouble, and establish better lives for themselves and their families.

The Crushers Club's premise is that the same strategies employed by gangs to entrap individuals in a life of violence can be utilized for good. That way, instead of incarcerating high-risk male children, they may succeed. The Crushers Club has developed to fulfill the growing need for jobs among local youth.
