Sally Kempton: A Life Dedicated to Inner Wisdom
Sally Kempton (January 15, 1943 – July 10, 2023) was an author, spiritual teacher, and devoted lifelong student of Kashmir Shaivism, the ancient North Indian tradition of tantric mysticism. In her later years, she devoted particular attention to its deeper esoteric teachings, including the practices and wisdom surrounding goddess worship.
For nearly five decades, Sally dedicated her life to making profound spiritual teachings accessible to modern seekers. She translated the wisdom of ancient ashrams, sages, and scholars into clear, practical language, helping people understand not only these timeless teachings but also how to bring them into everyday life.
A gifted meditation teacher, Sally was known for awakening a sense of stillness and inner awareness in others. Her approach to meditation was not simply about quieting the mind, but about exploring the inner world and learning to bring the heart, mind, and body into greater harmony. Through this process, she encouraged students to recognize their innate capacity for wisdom, presence, and love.
Her body of work includes insightful commentaries on classical yogic teachings and sacred texts, along with contemplative practices designed to help people move through psychological obstacles, understand the complexities of their inner lives, and navigate relationships, work, and modern life with greater awareness.
Sally Kempton’s teachings continue to offer a bridge between ancient spiritual wisdom and contemporary life, inviting us to look inward, live more consciously, and discover the wisdom and love already within us.
