I am a teacher, translator, interpreter and tourist guide currently living in Poggio Mirteto, 50km from Rome. My interests range from movies to sports, which include cycling, swimming, reading, arguing and travel.

Sport has always been high up on my list but recently it seems I'm trying to prove that anything is possible, no matter my age. Cycling has especially taken over my life at the moment. I took it up a year ago on my mountain bike but have recently graduated to a road bike – my beautiful BMC Team Machine. The Sabina hills are the perfect place to get fit quickly – you have no choice – as the hills always get in your way. But now the faster and higher I go, the better it feels.
I just got myself a Ducati Scrambler 800cc (haven't told the family yet, and why should they know, they are in the UK?)...so now I can go further on the days that I'm not cycling.
I've always been a swimmer. I remember taking it up semi-seriously 22 years ago when I was 5-months pregnant with my daughter Polly, and I haven't stopped since. My next goal is to do 200m of butterfly without stopping but I've only got to 50m for now, so there is still an ocean to cross.
For 6 years I lived in Tokyo and ever since my cultural heart has been 10,000 km away. Maybe strange since I live in Italy but somehow it often feels like 'Il Bel Paese' is so much in love with itself, it doesn't need me. I have also worked a lot in Asia, especially Vietnam, in the import/export business and travelled extensively in the area. I also make a pretty good Thai green curry.
That's more than anyone needs to know...so I'll sign off here.
