About Me
I was brought up in the theatre; from attending Sylvia Young Theatre to partaking in various shows from a young age, literature is a big part of who I am. From as early as my primary school years I developed my creative writing skills. I engaged in the Scene and Heard script writing and performance projects. This constructed my interest in the art of storytelling and the creation of an escapist alternate reality.
During the summer of 2012 I worked as a manager of Social Media and PR at Live Magazine. My time at Live Magazine required me to work with a variety of media professionals, including: press, film crews, musicians, poets, newspapers, publicists and editors. I also monitored the website trends and extended the magazines readership. During this same summer I used the trends I had configured from the magazine and used it to gain a worldwide readership of my online blog about young talent. As a result of my techniques, my blog gained over 3,500 international views within a matter of weeks.
During my time at university I developed my skills as a writer. My degree enhanced my literary awareness and challenged me to explore literature’s potential to challenge, engage and persuade its reader. I joined the university online newspaper and aided them in their production process.
In school I used writing poetry as an outlet and a release; in the past few years however I have integrated my performance training with my writing and have performed spoken word. I wrote for both the page and performance. Since, I have performed in various venues and events across the country and become a poetry slam winner. My dissertation gave me the opportunity to push both my writing and my media capabilities. I wrote, edited and directed a short poetic monologue video in relation to my title: the contemporary blackface, cutting edge culture or socially problematic. This social commentary both supported my project and expanded my media skillset.
I am currently looking to enter the televisual and cinematic industry, and I am open to all opportunities.
