In the 1990’s Sam was a digital photography pioneer, Associate Editor at Photo District News, and Adjunct Faculty at NYC's School of Visual Arts. More recently he was executive director of ASPP and a digital asset management (DAM) consultant.

When he is not aboard a small trawler somewhere along the East Coast, he and his family live in New York.
