I am a native of Maine, where I grew up on a blueberry farm, and I now live in Los Angeles, where I work as a life coach doing what I call Spinal Cord Injury Integration Training. This involves working with people who, like myself, have experienced spinal cord injuries and are working towards achieving goals, no matter how big or small, that will make their lives better.

Here's my story. In 1999, at age 23, I led a trans-continental bicycling tour from Seattle to New Jersey with nine teenagers. After finishing, I recall thinking, "what could be more challenging than what I just did!?" My answer came two months later, when I was in a car accident caused by a drunk driver that left me paralyzed from the waist down and confined to a wheelchair.

In 2003, I spent the better part of an entire year lying in a hospital bed, as well as many months of additional time around this period laid-up at home due to complications from my spinal cord injury. This period was my "dark night of the soul," and living through it with a generally positive attitude instilled in me a powerful ability to persevere through life's challenges. It was during this time that I began to work on an album of original music which would eventually be called "Chasing Miracles." I have firsthand experience with the motto, "what doesn't kill you can only make you stronger."

My favorite hobby is monoskiing, a type of adaptive skiing where the skier sits above one ski. I spent the winter of 2011-2012 in Telluride, CO, as a volunteer ski instructor, teaching other physically and cognitively disabled individuals (including veteran participants from the Wounded Warrior Project) how to ski.

People who do Spinal Cord Injury Integration Training can be assured that I will help them to maximize their independence and enjoy a fulfilling and abundant lifestyle. I work in private sessions as well as with the families and partners of injured people. Fourteen years of experience with paralysis and a dedication to living up to my highest potential makes working with me extremely beneficial, especially for those who are newly injured, but also for those who have been injured for awhile but want to take their experience of life to a whole new level. Please contact me at [email protected] or 310-339-2972 to set up a half hour long introductory session over Skype.
