Two Investigative reporters who uncovered information about covert U.S. policy toward Iraq-- Douglas Frantz and Murray Waas, of the Los Angeles Times and were honored last night at the Kennedy School of Government of Harvard University. The fourth annual Goldsmith Awards were awarded to those achieving excellence in the fields of investigative reporting, book writing and media research. The Goldsmith Awards-- prizes for investigative reporting were awarded to Douglas Frantz and Murray Waas for a series on policy toward Iraq. The investigative reporting prizes were presented by Tom Wicker. Murray Waas spoke on behalf of the L.A. Times team, explaining their efforts to expose "Iraqgate." He spoke of the connection between domestic well-being and foreign policy. "People have a right to know the secret history of how these decisions are made in their name," Murray Waas told the attendees.
