Sam Souza
Sam began practicing yoga in 2006 after moving to DC area from Brazil. Initially yoga was a purely physical challenge. In fact, she would purposely position herself next to an advanced student and try to keep up. She wasn't interested in the all the philosophy and spiritual talk. Bored after six months Sam stopped going to class.
In 2010 after her boyfriend at that time left DC to follow his dream and travel the world for a months, Sam came back to yoga to do something meaningful for herself. She returned with an open mind, but especially an open heart.
Sam practices to find peace of mind and to connect with her inner self. Through yoga she embraces the power of the breath beyond the miracle, which gives us life to the ability to follow the breath to create calm and connection in mind and emotions.
Asana practice also offers us a physical challenge. Sam offers students an opportunity to respect and support their limitations and emotions and to feel grateful for the things they do to grow and enrich themselves through their work on the mat and off the mat.
Sam finds inspiration from teachers like Kat Folwer, Tiffany Cruikshank, and Pleasance Silicki who in their different and special ways are promoting wellness and sharing the benefits of yoga.
