Dr Samuel (Sam) Okechukwu Umealu is an Australian Scientist, Engineer, Inventor, IT Architect, Author and Real Estate Investor.

Born in Nigeria to Igbo parents, Dr Sam Umealu studied Chemical Engineering at Anambra State University of technology, then earned a Masters degree in Renewable Energy, and a PhD in Chemical Engineering, both at National Technical University, Athens. His ground breaking work in Process Engineering has been published in some of the world’s top scientific journals, including Separation Science and Technology.

In 1992, Sam Umealu migrated to Australia where he joined Monash University, as a Postdoctoral research fellow in the area of Process Simulation. He left the academia in 1994, to pursue a career in the Information Technology industry.

Dr Sam Umealu lives in Melbourne where he founded a technology company - SamSoft Pty Ltd (www.gosamsoft.com), in 1998. As a Consulting Architect in Information Technology, he provides Information Technology consulting services to large commercial and government organizations, including IBM, Accenture, American Insurance Group, Australia Insurance Group, ANZ banking group, National Australia bank, Telstra, Energy Australia, Victoria Police, Australia Government and so on.

In 2010, Dr Sam Umealu filed a patent application with the United States Patent and Trademark office (USPTO) - Application number: US 12/941081 and Publication number: US20120115438 A1, for an invention in combined fields of Information Technology, Data Security, Fraud Prevention & Privacy.

In 2011, he filed another patent application with the USPTO - Application number: US 13/071508 and Publication number: US20120242686 A1, for an invention in combined fields of Information Technology, Data Security and Telecom. These inventions have been severally made reference to by some of the world’s biggest and best technology companies, including Apple, Google and Pcms Holdings in their innovative work in these fields.

In 2019, he filed yet another patent application with the USPTO in Process Engineering and Renewable Energy - Application number: 62/974 679.

Dr Sam Umealu is a successful real estate investor. He is passionate about health and fitness. He is married to Fleure (Vaslet) Umealu, an artist and they have a daughter, Chinelo.
