Samantha Ellis

Samantha Ellis is a dedicated, out-going student currently attending the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She is a senior majoring in Plant Sciences and is on track to graduate in the spring of 2015. Her simple dream is to work as a horticuluralist, spread the joys of working with plants to others and make the world a more beautiful place.

Working with plants and being out in the garden is what Samantha loves. She is employed by the University of Tennessee Botanical Gardens where she works as a greenhouse production intern. Her responsibilities include watering, taking care of and propogating several types of plant species throughout the year. It has given her tremendous experience and has drawn her closer to her passion.

Samantha also spreads her knowledge and experience to others who enjoy plants. While working at the UT Botanical Gardens, she discovered that even the most seasoned gardener could use advice. She decided to create a Twitter account where she tweets and retweets anything related to horticulture or agriculture, including news, gardening tips, recipes, photos and more. She hopes to one day reach even more people as a horticulture columnist.

Not only does she handle plants at work, but she also handles them at home! Samantha does her best to keep her tiny apartment flush with foliage, inside and out.

Her free time is usually spent at home with her loving boyfriend and her two cats. She likes to relax and play her ukulele, as well as her favorite video games. She also enjoys spending time with her friends and planning trips to music festivals.
