Samantha Lewis

book broker, literary agent, and Project Manager in Irvine, California

I work as a book broker and publishing professional with a deep passion for connecting authors with the right publishing opportunities. Over the past decade, I’ve worn many hats in the literary and publishing world—from rights management and editorial support to author relations and contract negotiations—and every step has fueled my commitment to helping writers succeed.

Right now, I focus on endorsing and pitching books I truly believe in. My goal is to present each author’s work with a strategy that reflects both market trends and their unique voice. Whether it’s through manuscript evaluations, outreach to traditional publishers, or navigating publishing rights, I bring a thoughtful and personalized approach to every project.

Earlier in my career, I worked as a Client Relations Specialist and Rights Manager at Rees Literary Agency, where I guided authors through submission processes, negotiated deals, and helped them shape their long-term publishing goals. Before that, I spent several years at Doubleday & Co., Inc. in New York, managing audio, serial, and merchandise rights, while also supporting editorial tasks like manuscript development and content refinement.

My publishing journey started even earlier—first as a Literary Agent Assistant at ASU Foundation, where I worked closely on nonfiction and narrative projects, and then with the American Library Association as an Assistant Manager, where I led a team through a major digital content and redesign project.

I studied English Literature & Journalism at MIT and completed Publishing Management coursework at UCLA. I'm also proud to be a member of the Association of Registrars and Collections Specialists (ARCS) and other professional publishing networks, which help me stay informed and connected in a constantly evolving industry.

Outside of work, I love discovering new voices, supporting authors behind the scenes, and being part of the exciting process of turning stories into books that matter.
