Hello, I’m Samantha, a returning Sophomore at Northwest University. My first year at NU was wonderful andI really learned to appreciate the community here!

I was involved with Student Activity Board and I had a glimpse into workings of student government.

As a senator at NU I would like to further keep both students and administration informed about the perspective of the other.

Some practical ideas for bringing this about include:

- Student surveys about pertinent issues:This could be used for something as simple as students giving information about their favorite class or as complex as ideas for improving University Core Classes. The surveys would give students a simple way to respond to their experiences on campus. They would also help Administration gain a better understanding of how students feel regarding certain issues.

- Easy access information about school spending for students:Last year NUSG released a “Budget Breakdown” in the form of a pie-chart. It detailed how much money was allocated to each category. This sort of information is easily accessible to student and quickly gives an overview of how their student activities fee is spent. A simple breakdown of the school’s budget for tuition and housing would help students better understand how their money is being spent.

- Email list for Senate Minutes:In an effort to keep students informed about the Senate’s activities, the minutes are made available after each meeting. I would like to suggest a voluntary email list for students who would like to be notified about the posting of the most recent minutes or receive a transcript in the email.

If you have questions or suggestions, please feel free to email me or stop me to talk! Don’t forget to vote September 18th!
