Samantha Zaleski
Australia
My name is Samantha and I am sixteen years old. My art is influenced
by people, events- good and bad and by places. All my life I have
traveled- I see, feel and experience things a different way. I show
this through my art. I feel a great responsibility to share my art and
my ultimate goal is to make people smile and happy- especially children.
With my dad dying, it was a major wake up call, I thought that that
was the worst thing that could happen to me...the most horrible thing.
Suddenly everything didn't seem so petrifying anymore. I started doing
crazy things like reaching out to artists, writers, designers,
magazines and through that I got some amazing opportunities. At 14
years old I was undertaking an internship with a visual artist and
setting up professional websites for blogging and showcasing my
portfolio online. At 15 years old, I had built an international
network of people, had been doing interviews, drawing international
commissions for places like America and Europe. I also wrote and self
published a book titled 'The Story of Doris Cummiski'....I entered a
few of the illustrations in an illustrating competition in 2014 and it
won 2nd place. Now at 16, I am a published author, business owner,
passionate lover of art and my characters- anything weird really. But
I am also a huge dreamer. I dream of one day having a studio overseas,
studying arts at prestigious universities like Falmouth (UK) and
Parsons (US) and I also dream of my art being known and shared all
over the world! Only time will tell...I wish to make myself proud and
my family and father proud of my achievements and hopefully I can help
the world in some small way. Without art, I would be lost. It is my
life now and it has saved my life- the least I could do is pursue it!

I am always interested in advice, passed down knowledge about the creative life and other people's personal experiences in this path. If you can offer connections, possible mentors, collaborations, and opportunities to me- I would be very, very grateful!
