Samantha Manrique

Student and Dancer in Miami, Florida

I am Samantha Manrique, and I’m a rising junior at Law Enforcement Officers Memorial High School. I am also a dedicated dual enrollment student at Miami Dade College, where I’m committed to both academic excellence and professional development. I have completed college-level courses in English Composition I and II, College Algebra, and Introduction to Philosophy, and I am currently enrolled in Introduction to Communications and Quantitative Business Statistics. Throughout high school, I’ve taken several AP courses, including AP Human Geography, AP Biology, and AP World History.

Currently, I am interning with the Superhero Leadership Academy (SLA) through the 2025 Summer Youth Internship Program. I chose this opportunity to strengthen my leadership skills in communication, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, and cybersecurity, which are all of SLA's core values. I also hope this experience prepares me for future job opportunities by helping me build discipline, improve time management, and gain valuable real-world experience. As a part of my junior year, I am also working toward earning my paralegal certificate, advancing my commitment to academic and career readiness.

Outside the classroom, I have a strong background in competitive dance, having trained and performed for over a decade. My experience includes performing at the 2020 Super Bowl with Jennifer Lopez, auditioning for America’s Got Talent, World of Dance, and Pequeños Gigantes, and appearing on Telemundo’s Todo Unidos. These opportunities taught me discipline, adaptability, and professionalism, as well as how to succeed in high-pressure, collaborative environments.

By definition, a “superhero” is a fictional character with extraordinary powers or a highly skilled person. I believe a real-world superhero is someone who uses their voice and determination to uplift others and lead with purpose. In leadership, a superhero supports others through challenges while also learning how to care for themselves. They lead with empathy, creativity, and integrity because they are committed to positive change.

My superpowers include empathy, emotional awareness, communication, and critical thinking. I value connection, support, and understanding, and I often try to look at situations from multiple perspectives. With growing interests in music, dance, politics, and history, I am passionate about personal growth and using my voice to create meaningful change in my community and beyond.
