Hello. My name is Sam, and I am a hipster. Well, I actually do not like to call myself a hipster. The blanket term is actually something my friends use to describe me. Some even make an effort in introducing me as "Sam the Hipster" with a capital H. Now, before I go any further, please stop glancing over at my profile picture to confirm my hipsterism. You will likely be convinced that I'm some sort of enigma unless I can prove otherwise.

Now that we have that out of the way, let me tell you about some of my most defining elements. I wear black glasses with huge frames. I fancy bands like Phish, The Grateful Dead, and Umphreys McGee. I use phrases like "I fancy" when writing. I enjoy longboarding, and I occasionally sit on my longboard, stick my arms out, and pretend I am an airplane while vacuously staring forward.

Now then, access your minds eye and put together a picture. Do you see a hipster? If you do, then you just succeeded in marginalizing me a little bit more than before you got to know me.

All in all, I enjoy being unique. Uniqueness certainly comes with its flaws, (like not being able to get into frat parties, for example) but as long as you recognize that I am a human being just as you are, I think we can be friends.
