Sam was adopted and raised in Big Spring, TX. Sam learned the value of good advice as a rebellious teen when a school principal told him he could be a leader if he worked hard enough. With that in mind, Sam redirected his efforts toward being the best leader and graduated high school as Student Body President and President of the Texas Association of Student Councils. He completed college in Indiana and received his graduate degree at Oklahoma City University.

Sam started work in the Christian music industry in the mail room for Bill Gaither. After several years and many positions within Gaither Music, Sam moved on to management and consultation. He served as the V.P. of Business Affairs for Gotee Records, President of Integrity Music, consultant for David C Cook, and President of 40 Deep Management. The list of artists that benefitted from Sam’s services include Lecrae, GRITS, The Katinas, Out of Eden, Israel Houghton, Andy Mineo, Jo Dee Messina, and Trip Lee.

During his thirty year career, Sam has advised numerous companies and Christian ministries on their M&A and business development activities in media and entertainment. He currently serves as an advisor for a private equity fund focused on the acquisition of music rights. Sam also operates Chappell Entertainment, a management company focused on nurturing established and unknown talent in music and print media.

Sam also served on the Board of Trustees at Mid America Bible College and on the Board of Directors for Liberty Christian School.

Sam’s great passions revolve around helping others find their destiny. He believes that our destiny creates our legacy, and he is determined to help everyone he encounters build their vision for themselves and their families.

Sam’s family extends to four children and five grandchildren. Despite living in Nashville for going on 25 years after periods in Indiana, Alabama, New York, and California, Sam still calls Texas his true home.
