Sam Dobbie
Sam Dobbie is an aspiring record producer with a keen ear for detail. He has had a deep connection with music from a young age. Sam struggled after leaving school to find something he was truly passionate about to pursue as a career, then he realised a path in to music in some way, shape or form was the only way to fulfill his happiness and give a feeling of purpose in his life. After this realisation he sought after means to educate himself further in the profession. Sam always felt he had a good ear for music always lending a conscious and critical ear where ever he heard it, whether it be in the supermarket or at a club he always had a sense of obligation to analyse a song even before his formal training began. He began his training as SAE creative media institute which opened up a whole world he never knew existed. During his time at SAE Sam developed a strong sense of how to mix and record a song. At the institute he is learning a number of different microphone techniques and basic know-how of how to record a song which has helped him further his knowledge of the recording industry. In addition to this, Sam found what part of record production interests him most; mixing. As Sam grew more and more in the field he became more sensitive to the finer points of how a mix comes to fruition from the recording to the final touch of EQ applied to a mix. Making his way through his diploma Sam began to pay particular attention to rock 'n' roll and its many, many sub genres. He has particular interest in punk, lo-fi, garage rock, Blues, alternative rock and psychedelic recording. Some of his influence include but are not limited to are- Robert Johnson, Howlin' Wolf, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Ramones, The clash, The Dead Kennedys, The Queens of the Stone Age, The Pixies, Radiohead, Tame Impala and The Strokes just to name a few. With these few bands that have influenced Sam there is a common theme and that is records should be made with the intention to capture peoples imagination and provide sound and words to the emotions in an individuals head. Sam believes in the purity of music and it being portrayed as it was intended, as art. He would like to offer what ever help you may need in the recording and mixing stages of your music and provide you with his unique approach and way of thinking to your projects.
