Sami Kamjoo, M.D.

Dr. Sami Kamjoo is a board-certified ophthalmologist, specializing in diseases and surgery of the retina. He completed his undergraduate studies at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), earning two bachelor of science degrees by double-majoring in neuroscience and physiology. While at UCLA, Dr. Kamjoo received multiple honors, including the Dean’s Honors Award, and graduated magna cum laude. He then completed his MD at University of California, Irvine (UCI) graduating in the top 10% of his class. While at UCI, he was also inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) National Honors Society.

After earning his medical degree, Dr. Kamjoo completed his medicine internship at UCLA/Olive-View in the San Fernando Valley. This was followed by an ophthalmology residency at UCI, which is a training program that has one of the highest intraocular surgical volumes in California. Dr. Kamjoo’s surgical caseload was over the 90th percentile nationally. Due to his effective teaching and leadership skills, Dr. Kamjoo was selected as Chief Resident.

Following residency, Dr. Kamjoo was then selected to stay at UCI to complete a two-year medical and surgical retina fellowship, where he gained vast experience in the management of diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, epiretinal membranes, macular holes, retinopathy of prematurity, and the surgical repair of complex retinal detachments.

Dr. Kamjoo is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Society of Retina Specialists. Dr. Kamjoo’s main areas of interest include diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, epiretinal membrane, and macular holes.
