Hi! My name is Samiyyah, I'm a junior majoring in digital media at Florida International University.

Growing up, I've always aspired to be an entrepreneur. I use to keep a notebook with all my business ideas ranging from clothing lines, a resort, and a media company similar to Disney's. Looking back, I think it's really funny that I had my heart set so high... I was only 8 at the time.

During my senior year of high school I gained the position of Student Body President and Youth Leader at my church. Both positions required me to manage a team, regulate meetings, create events, market events and manage a Facebook page.

Currently, I am working with Dr. Gutsche and five other undergrads conducting studies on women in communications. We are also working alongside the Lillian Kopenhavar Center for the advancement of women in communication. Our team has presented our findings at two conferences, published an article to MediaShift, built a website, and have published a white paper. We have plans to continue our research.

With one year to graduate, I plan to continue building more skills in social media, press relations, music journalism, and video editing.
