Hi, I’m Sam and I’m in my third year as a Biological Science major at the University of Guelph. As a biological science major I’ve had a lot of flexibility in the types of courses I’ve been able to take, and have enjoyed learning about a wide variety of science related topics. Many of my classes have been related to integrative biology and included course such as ecology, evolution, and vertebrate structure and function. I also took biological anthropology as an arts elective, and enjoyed learning about human evolution and how our species evolved. My hobbies include crafts, cooking, as well as watching TV and movies.

I am interested in science on a larger scale, such as learning about evolution, and how living things have changed over time. I also am interested in classes about human health, and look forward to those type of classes I’m taking this semester. I am less interested in science on a smaller scale, such as cell biology or microbiology. I am inspired by many female scientists who overcame obstacles in their time and made important discoveries, such as Rosalind Franklin and Marie Curie.

I haven’t decided on a goal for my career, but I am currently leaning towards completing a Masters degree in Health Science and going on to research the effects different factors have on our health. I also enjoy science and math, and have enjoyed being a math tutor in the past and so I am considering being a high school math or science teacher. I will most likely complete a 5th year of undergrad, so I still have some time to decide and find what I’m most passionate about

My favourite hobby is crocheting, and I love making blankets. I taught myself two years ago from YouTube videos and have since made many blankets, as well as some hats and gloves.
