Sammi WS Chan

I am currently an Illustration, second semester undergraduate student at FIT. At Groundswell, I am still a youth artist, and also taking apprenticeship under some professional artists from Groundswell. My goal would to be able to put smiles on the millions of people out in the world from the artistic works I create. I want people to look up to me and to follow in my footsteps because that is how I got started.

To me, being a artist is being a mathematician, a scientist. I does not only take a vast imagination and creativity, it is about understanding concepts, observing them well, and recreating it on something tangible. Art has drastically changed my life. It is also an emotional turmoil that I have gone through because I have experienced failure before, and I know that there is more to come. No matter what, I am willing to take the next step in pursuing art because it is where my passion lies. I cannot imagine myself not being able to enjoy drawing because art is forever embedded inside of me.
