Sammy Hurst
Student and Dancer in Orange, California
My name is Sammy Hurst and I am currently a junior at Chapman University, working to earn two Bachelor Degrees in Integrated Educational Studies and Dance. I have also been accepted into Chapman’s graduate program for education, where I will earn my Masters of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction one year upon graduating college. With goals to become a first-grade teacher, I aim to change the lives of my students by inspiring them to love to learn. I believe the best way to do this, is by integrating technology into the classroom and utilizing project based learning. By harnessing technology and giving students freedom, students can connect content to their own interests and talents, making learning much more meaningful and memorable.
Dance has always been a huge part of my life and I believe it always will be. I have played many roles in the dance community, such as a student, an assistant teacher, a substitute teacher, and a part-time employee at various dance studios across Southern California. Being able to combine my two passions of dance and teaching is very enlightening and keeps me motivated to continue making a difference in kids’ lives. Additionally, I am signed with The Movement Talent Agency in Los Angeles, California, where I wish to pursue a career in commercial dance someday.
