Samoya Nicholson moved to the United States from Jamaica at age 16. After graduating from Milford High School in Milford Delaware, she joined the Air Force Reserve in 2014 and started pursuing her higher education at Delaware State University in Dover Delaware. She majored in Mass communications with a concentration of Television, Radio, and Film, where she worked with the university television station, WDSU-TV as a videographer and created graphics for the live home football games. She interned with the Delaware Democrats for the 2016 presidential election where she grew their social media platform and used it as a way to inform the public of representatives and candidates who were running for office. Ms. Nicholson had the opportunity to work with political representatives including the district representative for the 31st district Sean Lynn, Governor John Carney, and Congresswoman Lisa Blunt- Rochester. Ms. Nicholson changed her concentration to Public Relations and Advertising with a minor in Marketing and has recently created a marketing plan for a local Dover establishment called Caribbean Cuisine which has grown from a little food shop on Loockerman Street, to having a kiosk in the Dover Mall and moving to a larger building to accommodate customer and business growth. Samoya Nicholson has been awarded Airman of the Quarter at the Dover Air Force Base in 2016 and is a member of the university's Dean's List. She volunteers with the Food Bank of Delaware and Brandywine Community Outreach, and strive to continue to give back to her community and wishes to one day open a shelter for the homeless. Ms. Nicholson continues to grow in her field and is willing to learn and expand her knowledge to be the best she can be in all that she do.
